Ingredient Trends Nutrition MLMs Are Currently Pursuing

The trick to getting in the door of a multi-level marketing (MLM) company is to walk in with the right ingredient at the right time. But knowing what and when that is can be difficult to determine. One truism is that MLM companies tend to be early adopters of new ingredients that address common consumer health conditions. The current platforms that most companies deal in mirror consumer health trends, and most categories have a solid body of science behind them. Right now, the most popular categories include weight loss, heart health, immune support, anti-aging, sports nutrition and personal care.
Still, to land an MLM client, suppliers must get ahead of the curve and develop ingredients that reflect the latest science in a category, which MLM scientific teams will monitor for new product ideas. For example, USANA Health Sciences is focused on obesity and its related diseases, such as metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes, and is specifically interested in pursuing ingredients that deal with symptoms that result from these diseases, said John Cuomo, the company's executive director of research and development. “We are looking for ingredients that address insulin resistance, vascular inflammation and oxidative stress,” Cuomo said. “We believe those three are all tightly associated, and if we make improvements to one, the others will improve as well.” USANA is also interested in pain management and joint function, Cuomo said. “Overall immune health is pretty important too, and the new research on vitamin D fits in with that,” He added.
